Recently, Southeast Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SeABank, stock code SSB) was awarded the title of "Best Companies To Work For In Asia 2023" by HR Asia Magazine. This marks the third consecutive year that SeABank has received this prestigious award.
The HR Asia Awards is a prestigious accolade presented by HR Asia, a leading high-level human resources magazine in Asia. Its purpose is to honor businesses with outstanding human resources policies, attractive employee benefits, top-notch working environments, and a commitment to organizing engaging internal activities that foster employee cohesion.
In 2023, the HR Asia Awards attracted participation from large enterprises representing 16 countries and territories across Asia, including Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, the UAE, and Vietnam. The awards were meticulously selected through multiple rigorous evaluations based on independent research into the reputations of companies with outstanding working environments, conducted by HR Asia's research department.
SeABank successfully met stringent criteria according to the TEAM model applied to major human resource markets in Asia, which includes Company and Human Resources Structure (CORE - Collective Organisation for Real Engagement), Emotions and Human Psyche (SELF - Heart, Mind, Soul), and Collective Thinking and Action (GROUP - Think, Feel, Do). In August 2023, SeABank was honored for the third consecutive time in the category of "Best Workplace in Asia." Particularly noteworthy, SeABank received very high scores in all three criteria as assessed by its employees, surpassing the average scores of participating enterprises. Specifically, CORE scored 4.49 points (average 3.74), SELF scored 4.67 points (average 3.88), and GROUP scored 4.74 points (average 3.98).
As part of its sustainable development strategy, SeABank prioritizes the development of resources and the enhancement of employee value positioning. The working environment at SeABank is built upon core values and the bank's sustainable development goals, making it a crucial area for resource investment. SeABank places a strong emphasis on principles of equality, diversity, and empowerment for its employees to create a motivating environment that promotes efficiency, collaboration, and cohesion. SeABank employees are encouraged to express and cultivate a sense of connection, sharing, and care through cultural activities organized based on the bank's core values.
In addition to meaningful bonding activities, since 2018, SeABank has consistently implemented its Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) to acknowledge the contributions of its employees to the bank's development. This program enhances their attachment to the organization and serves as a significant incentive, offering substantial benefits from SeABank. As of the current time, SeABank has issued nearly 106 million ESOP shares to almost 3,700 employees. In 2022, 59.4 million ESOP shares were issued at a price of 15,000 VND per share, with 50% of them being transferable after 1 year and 100% after 2 years of ownership. This program has provided various benefits to employees and contributed to the creation of an equitable, cohesive, professional, and humane work environment.
In 2023, SeABank's Annual General Meeting of Shareholders approved a plan to issue 42 million ESOP shares. This plan has been approved by the State Bank of Vietnam and is expected to be implemented by the end of the year. In addition to purchasing shares at preferential prices, in 2023, SeABank employees will also receive dividends in the form of shares and bonus shares with a total ratio of 20.3%. This is considered a highly meaningful incentive, offering substantial benefits that the bank provides to its employees.
In 2022, the level of satisfaction and engagement of over 5,200 SeABank employees demonstrated favorable results compared to the general standards of businesses in the region for that year. These results indicate that SeABank has been successful in maintaining key elements related to corporate culture, the working environment, and employee benefits, which include: Flexible working environment, modern and convenient facilities, outstanding human resource policies with clear career advancement opportunities, attractive and motivating compensation and benefits that align with employees' capabilities.
