August 13, 2026 – MSCI (Morgan Stanley Capital International) has announced its August 2026 Index Review, officially adding SSB shares of Southeast Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SeABank) to the MSCI Frontier Markets Index. The changes will take effect from September 1, 2026.
MSCI Frontier Markets Index is a stock market benchmark created by MSCI to track stocks across frontier markets. The selection and retention of index constituents are based on criteria including market capitalization, free float, liquidity, and accessibility to international investors.
The index is widely used as a benchmark for market assessment and asset allocation. Changes to index constituents can increase the visibility and exposure of included stocks among funds and investment products that use the MSCI Frontier Markets Index as a benchmark. In addition, ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds) and passive funds that track the index may adjust their portfolios accordingly when the changes take effect. This may generate additional trading demand for SSB shares, support liquidity, and expand opportunities to attract international capital.

According to MSCI data as of July 31, 2026, the number of Vietnamese stocks in the index remains unchanged following the review, while the composition has shifted notably, with all three newly added stocks coming from the banking sector. This highlights the continued significant role of banking stocks in Vietnam’s equity market.
In the August 2026 review, the MSCI Frontier Markets Index added six stocks and removed five. Vietnam remained the index’s largest market by weight, at 29.12%, with all three newly added Vietnamese stocks coming from the banking sector, including SeABank’s SSB.
The inclusion of SSB in the MSCI Frontier Markets Index marks a significant milestone for SeABank, reflecting improvements in market capitalization, liquidity, transparency, corporate governance standards, and the stock’s attractiveness to the investment community. It also represents a positive step in SeABank’s efforts to strengthen its presence in the capital market and enhance engagement with international funds and investors.

This milestone reflects SeABank’s continued commitment to sustainable growth. In recent years, the Bank has focused on digital transformation, expanding its product and service ecosystem, and strengthening operational efficiency, financial capacity and asset quality, thereby enhancing its competitiveness and supporting long-term growth.
