SSB shares of Southeast Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SeABank, HOSE: SSB) have been added by MarketVector Indexes to the MarketVector Vietnam Local Index, the benchmark index of the VanEck Vectors Vietnam ETF (VNM ETF), which has more than US$500 million in assets. The inclusion follows SSB’s addition to the MSCI Frontier Markets Index and FTSE Global All Cap in recent reviews, further expanding its presence in international indices.
MarketVector Indexes added SSB as the only new constituent in its Q3 2026 review for MarketVector Vietnam Local Index, announced on September 12. Following the move, VNM ETF will continue to hold 55 stocks and one fund certificate, with the portfolio rebalancing scheduled for September 18.
The MarketVector Vietnam Local Index serves as the benchmark index for the VNM ETF. As of September 10, 2026, the fund's portfolio size stood at nearly US$520 million, equivalent to approximately VND 13.5 trillion.
SSB is estimated to have a 1.76% weighting in VNM ETF’s new portfolio, implying potential purchases of about US$9.2 million, or approximately 13 million shares. The figure is an estimated inflow based on index-based portfolio rebalancing and does not represent completed purchases.

Previously, MSCI added SSB to the MSCI Frontier Markets Index in its August 2026 review, effective September 1. The index considers market capitalization, free float, liquidity and market accessibility when selecting constituents. SSB was also among 27 Vietnamese stocks added to the FTSE Global All Cap in its September 2026 semi-annual review, effective September 21.
Inclusion in the three indices expands SSB’s presence among international funds, particularly passive funds and ETFs, with potential implications for trading liquidity, investment flows and the stock price.
The index changes have coincided with stronger trading activity in SSB. On September 15, the stock hit its 6.91% daily price ceiling, with 11.87 million shares traded, worth nearly VND240 billion. At VND20,900 per share, SeABank’s market capitalization reached VND72.498 trillion.

Previously, Moody’s Ratings upgraded SeABank’s Baseline Credit Assessment (BCA) to Ba3, raised its long-term Counterparty Risk Ratings (CRRs) to Ba2, and changed the Bank’s outlook from “Stable” to “Positive”. SeABank also recently received the First-Class Labor Medal, while Madame Nguyen Thi Nga, Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Board of Directors, was awarded the Labor Hero title in the Renewal Period by General Secretary cum President To Lam. These positive milestones, together with SSB’s consecutive inclusion in international indices, provide further reference points for the Bank’s financial strength, brand reputation and market position.
SSB’s consecutive inclusion in international indices in recent reviews reflects its ability to meet criteria regarding market capitalization, liquidity, transparency and growth prospects, while broadening its exposure to the global investment community. The index additions also mark a further step in SeABank’s growing presence in the capital market, alongside its efforts to strengthen its financial foundation, governance and competitiveness.
