FTSE Russell has announced its September 2026 semi-annual review of the FTSE Global Equity Index Series (FTSE GEIS) for the Asia Pacific region (excluding Japan and China). Accordingly, SeABank’s SSB shares are among 27 newly added Vietnamese stocks to the FTSE Global All Cap Index, effective September 21, 2026. This could increase SSB’s visibility among international funds and investors, supporting liquidity, capital inflows and share price.

SSB’s growing presence in international indices
FTSE GEIS is a global equity index series covering more than 19,000 stocks across various market-cap segments in developed and emerging markets. Major indices within the series, including the FTSE All-World, FTSE Global All Cap and FTSE Emerging Markets, are widely used by international investment funds and ETFs (Exchange-Traded Funds) as benchmarks for constructing and tracking portfolios. SSB’s inclusion in the index could help attract additional demand, support trading liquidity and contribute to the stock’s price performance.
SSB was added to the FTSE Global All Cap Index as Vietnam progresses toward its reclassification from Frontier Market to Secondary Emerging Market status by FTSE Russell, effective September 21, 2026. The reclassification is expected to attract greater international capital flows, while helping newly added Vietnamese stocks such as SSB gain greater visibility among foreign funds and investors.
According to the announcement, 27 Vietnamese stocks across large-, mid- and small-cap segments have been added to the FTSE Global All Cap Index, eight of which are banking stocks, including SeABank’s SSB.
Vietnamese stocks will be included in FTSE indices in four phases from September 2026 to September 2027. This phased implementation is expected to spread international fund flows over time rather than concentrate them at a single point, allowing the market to absorb the inflows more effectively.
Opportunities to expand international reach
Following SSB’s previous inclusion in the MSCI Frontier Markets Index, its addition to the FTSE Global All Cap further demonstrates that SeABank’s stock meets key criteria such as market capitalization, liquidity, free float and investor accessibility. Inclusion in major international indices enhances SSB’s visibility among foreign funds and may increase its attractiveness to international investors, potentially supporting trading liquidity and foreign capital inflows.
As of the August 26 close, SSB’s share price rose to VND16,000, with 2.04 million shares matched. The positive movement implies the market’s favorable response to SSB’s inclusion in the FTSE Global All Cap Index.
In the long run, the reclassification process could support market liquidity and increase international investors’ interest in Vietnam’s stock market. In addition to passive fund flows, actively managed funds may also step up their monitoring and consider allocating to Vietnamese stocks included in the indices, including SSB. However, the scale and timing of actual fund flows will depend on multiple factors, such as the stock’s index weighting, fund asset sizes, valuation, exchange rates, risk appetite and overall market conditions.
For SeABank, this positive milestone affirms that the Bank’s stock has met stringent criteria relating to market capitalization, liquidity, transparency and growth prospects. It also provides further impetus for the Bank to continue strengthening its financial foundation, enhancing governance quality, information transparency and competitiveness, thereby laying a solid foundation for sustainable development and long-term value creation.
