To promote a green lifestyle and raise public awareness about waste sorting, Southeast Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SeABank, HOSE: SSB) has partnered with Hanoi Urban Environment Company Limited (URENCO) to launch the recurring “Waste for Gifts” eco-exchange program at its main office located at 25 Tran Hung Dao Street, Hoan Kiem Ward, Hanoi. This is a part of “Let’s Go Green with SeABank” – an annual environmental campaign featuring a range of practical activities such as tree planting, environmental clean-up, beach clean-up, eco-friendly gifts giveaway, waste recycling, and more.
The “Waste for Gifts” exchange program takes place from 8:30AM to 10:30AM on the second Friday of each month, from June to November 2025. The eco-exchange program is open to all SeABank employees and Hanoi residents. Collaborating with SeABank in this initiative is URENCO – a state-owned enterprise under the Hanoi People’s Committee with over 60 years of experience in the environmental sector. URENCO is currently the leading agency in the collection and treatment of urban, industrial, medical, and construction waste across central and suburban areas of Hanoi.
On the exchange days, SeABank employees and local residents can bring recyclable waste such as milk cartons, cans, plastic bottles, cardboard, etc. to exchange for practical eco-friendly gifts prepared by the organizer and its partner URENCO. At its first launch, the “Waste for Gifts” program has attracted strong participation and created positive impact within the community. In just two hours, the program collected nearly 300 kilograms of recyclable waste, including cardboard, cans, and plastic bottles. Nearly 300 eco-friendly gifts were handed directly to participants, including mini plants, biodegradable cleaning products, SeARun sports shirts, and many other useful items from URENCO and SeABank. The organizer also provided guidance on how to identify and sort recyclable waste, aiming to raise public awareness and encourage proper waste management at the source.
According to a SeABank representative, by hosting the “Waste for Gifts” eco-exchange program, SeABank not only provides individuals with an opportunity to practice environmental responsibility but also seeks to inspire a sense of community and reaffirm its commitment to the long-term goal of sustainable development. A small action today can contribute to preserve a greener, cleaner, and more beautiful Hanoi for future generations. This practical activity is part of SeABank’s environmental action series, aimed at promoting a more civilized, eco-friendly lifestyle within the community and raising public awareness about proper waste management at the source.
The “Waste for Gifts” program is part of “Let’s Go Green with SeABank” - SeABank’s annual environmental campaign launched since 2018. Prior to this, the Bank had partnered with environmental organizations to carry out waste classification and treatment programs, aiming to promote the message of responsible, eco-conscious living within the community. In addition to promoting environmentally friendly practices both in the workplace and at home - such as waste sorting, tree planting, reducing the use of bottle water and plastic bags, minimizing the consumption of plastic, paper, electricity, and water - SeABank is also committed to encouraging green living among its customers. By offering practical eco gifts like glass water bottles or canvas tote bags to customers, the Bank aims to reduce the habits of using single-use plastic bottles and plastic bags.
In addition to promoting green living at home and in the workplace, the “Let’s Go Green with SeABank” campaign also affirms the Bank’s commitment to protecting marine environments through the “Ocean Cleanup” program. In 2025, SeABank organized coastal clean-up activities in 11 provinces and cities, together with collecting waste alongside beaches, donating eco-friendly trash bins and biodegradable garbage bags to local communities. These efforts contributed to improving coastal sanitation, protecting the oceans and promoting sustainable development.
Guided by its core value of community-oriented, SeABank’s environmental initiatives aim to raise public awareness about environmental protection, particularly focusing on reducing waste and non-biodegradable solid waste. These efforts are also part of the Bank’s ESG-focused sustainable strategy (Environmental, Social, and Governance), which has been actively implemented to accelerate sustainable development, aligning business growth with social responsibility and environmental protection.
