Hanoi, October 22, 2026 – In line with the Government’s and the State Bank of Vietnam’s (SBV) directions to ease business difficulties, lower interest rates and support economic growth, the Board of Directors (BOD) of Southeast Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SeABank, HOSE: SSB) has approved a 15% reduction in its 2026 profit-before-tax target to VND6,008 billion. The BOD has also approved Mr. Le Van Tan’s resignation as Chair and is finalizing procedures to obtain SBV approval to appoint Mr. Tan as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), succeeding Mr. Le Quoc Long, whose three-year term (November 2023 - November 2026) is due to end. The BOD has also elected Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, a current BOD member, as its Chair for the 2023–2028 term, effective October 22, 2026.

Proactively adjusting profit targets to support the economy

To ensure safe and stable growth in the new context while strictly and decisively implementing the Government’s and the SBV’s directives to address business challenges, lower deposit and lending interest rates, and accept lower profits to support businesses, individuals and promote economic growth, SeABank has proactively revised its 2026 profit-before-tax target to VND6,008 billion. This strategic move reflects the Bank’s prudent and proactive approach, prioritizing the quality of growth over scale alone while standing alongside the economy through concrete actions:

  • Implementing interest rate reductions to support customers: In line with the Government’s and the SBV’s policy directions, SeABank has identified supporting businesses and individuals as a top priority and taken the lead in reducing annual deposit interest rates by 0.5 - 0.7 percentage points for tenors of six months or longer. This creates room to lower lending rates for both retail and corporate customers, particularly those operating in priority production and business sectors, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and green projects. In parallel, the Bank is strengthening funding management and optimizing operating costs.
  • Restructuring the credit portfolio and managing risks: SeABank is reviewing its entire customer portfolio and prioritizing credit allocation to businesses with sound financial foundations and viable business plans, as well as sectors prioritized for development.
  • Leveraging its customer ecosystem: SeABank is stepping up its use of existing customer ecosystems and value chains to provide integrated financial solutions, including credit, cash flow management and digital payments, thereby optimizing the customer experience and strengthening customer engagement.

SeABank’s voluntary reduction of its 2026 profit target is a proactive, prudent and necessary step that reflects the BOD’ strategic vision and alignment with the Government’s and the SBV’s policy directions, while providing maximum support to the economy. Rather than pursuing rapid growth at all costs, the Bank is focused on building a solid foundation, maintaining adequate loan loss provisions, and directing greater resources towards investment in digital technology and governance infrastructure.

New BOD Chair elected, strengthening senior leadership

In addition to adjusting its business plan, SeABank’s BOD convened and unanimously elected Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, a current BOD member, as Chairwoman of SeABank’s BOD, effective October 22, 2026.

Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Thuy has been elected as Chairwoman of SeABank’s BOD for the 2023–2028 term.

The decision followed the BOD’s approval of Mr. Le Van Tan’s resignation as Chair. SeABank is currently completing the procedures required to obtain approval from the SBV for Mr. Tan’s appointment as CEO, succeeding Mr. Le Quoc Long, whose three-year term (November 2023 - November 2026) is due to end.
